’Appen it’s Lanarkshire

VISITLANARKSHIRE has an app allowing tourists to discover the history of the county’s attractions. The Global Treasure App delivers information via audio, and then asks a series of location-based questions to give visitors the chance to pick up reward points.

There are varying levels of complexity to give adults and children a chance to take part.

The app is currently live at Summerlee Museum, the Antonine Wall, and Chatelherault Country Park where it has been downloaded 1,000 times.

The app can be downloaded in English, French, Spanish, German, and Chinese.

Chairman of the Lanarkshire Tourism Association, Mark Calpin, said: ‘Embracing digital innovation and enhancing partnerships with key organizations is an integral part of our strategic tourism plan, which underpins our objectives to make Lanarkshire one of the top visitor destinations in Scotland.

‘Smart phones and other digital devices have dramatically changed the way visitors interact with their surroundings. Recognizing this, we are working to ensure that 21st century visitors get the most out of their visit to Lanarkshire.’
