Floating Piers to let visitors walk over Italy’s Lake Iseo

#ITALY is expecting to draw at least half a million visitors after the floating piers on #LakeIseo by the artist Christo Yavachev, open this month (June).

The Bulgaria-born artist and his team has been assembling and anchoring almost 220,000 polyethylene floating cubes to form of a 1.8-mile walkway since November last year. The walkway will connect the mainland with two of the islands in Lake Iseo in Lombardy. Monte Isolo is one of the islands, which only uses boats as the method of communication with the mainland.

‘For the first time, for 16 days from June 18 to July 3, people will walk on the water!’ said,’ said Mr Yavachev, who has funded the venture.
