Hendrix home open to public

THE former #London home of #JimiHendrix has been opened up to the public and turned into a permanent exhibition. The house is next to the home of 18th century German-born composer, George Frederick Handel, which is already a small museum.

The new visitor attraction – a small apartment at 23 Brook Street, Mayfair – features Hendrix’s bedroom/living room, which has been recreated with the help of Hendrix’s then girlfriend, Kathy Etchingham.

Collectively known as Handel and Hendrix, the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) projects are managed by the Handel House Trust, which has spent three years converting Hendrix’s rooms into a museum.

Improvements are also being made to the facilities at the Handel House Museum.

Hendrix died in London in September 1970, at the age of 27.
