Boomtime ahead for UK tourism

TOURIST spend in the UK will increase by 27 percent by 2017 to just over £135.5 billion, according to research by Barclays Corporate.

A series of regional reports – covering Scotland to Cornwall and Ulster to the south-east – has been made available as part of the research, showing how tourism spending is set to change over the coming years. The trend towards  ‘staycations’, will account for 80 percent of overall tourist spend, but spending by overseas tourists will  grow at a much faster rate (33%), say the forecasters at Barclays.

The reports – UK Tourism Dynamics – show how tourists are spending money in each region of the UK, as well which overseas countries are spending the most in the UK and its regions.

The website also has social media tips for talking to holidaymakers, and advice on how to sell more to tourists.
