Brits head for Germany

The German National Tourist Board is predicting that more people from the UK will be visiting Germany than ever before in the coming months. In 2012, the number of overnight stays to Germany rose to 4.5 million. Predictions up to 2020 point to a total of five to 5.4 million international overnight stays.

The prediction is based on an analysis of visitor trends and the most recent visitor figures of overnight stays by UK visitors.

Klaus Lohmann, director of the German National Tourist Office for UK and Ireland, said: ‘There will be even more reasons to visit Germany for a holiday in 2014. Along with various high-profile institutions in the UK, we will be celebrating 300 years of UK-German royal connections with our Royal Heritage route.’
